Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Argent (Silver Gray), a flame Gules superimposed by two hammers saltirewise Sable, overall a lozenge fesswise Or. Attached below the shield a black scroll doubled and inscribed "IRON FINANCE" in Silver.

Symbolism
Silver gray and golden yellow are the colors traditionally associated with the Finance Corps. Gold is emblematic of honor and high achievement; red symbolizes sacrifice and valor. The lozenge is adapted from the Finance Corps insignia of branch. The flame and hammers suggest the working of iron and highlight the unit's motto. The hammers are crossed to denote strength and cooperation.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 27 February 1995.
